Taste & See

June 22, 2019

Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Genesis 3: 4-6

I don’t believe anyone intentionally shares food that tastes bad. We share food that is pleasurable and satisfying. Eve shared food that apparently tastes good, but the end result would be death. What are we sharing? Who are we sharing with? Would it be deemed as a fruit of the Spirit? If we are called to be like our Teacher, then what we are sharing with our neighbor matters.

Ultimately, we should be sharing Christ. He is the bread of God, the bread of life that came down from heaven (John 6:33-51). He gives living water (John 4:10), and He is what we need for life. He is the true vine, and if we choose to abide in Him, nothing will be impossible to accomplish (John 15:4). To taste and see that God is good is to perceive mentally that He is all we need. It is to understand that His words have to power to affect how we think and rewire the behaviors in us that are not like Him. We must be able to distinguish between the flavors and thoughts of the world versus the Word. For the Living Word desires to see us complete and made new.

I pray you are encouraged to speak and share life with those around you by sharing the truth of Jesus Christ. He desires for us to understand the design and plan of the Father. With this understanding comes healing and peace that surpasses all that this dying world has to offer.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.

Psalm 34:8-9

Shalom,
