Know Why You Stand

Simon Sinek encouraged us to "Start with Why" in his New York Times bestseller. What is the purpose behind the grind of the day to day tasks? The Parsha Nitsavim starts with why:
"You stand this day....to ender into the covenant of the Lord your God, which the Lord your God is concluding with you this day, with its sanctions; to the end that He may establish you this day as His people and be your God, as He promised you and as He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" (Deuteronomy 29:9-12).
We are not standing on our own power, but we stand because of His promise. We are standing that all the generations may hear, see and know. We are standing for our children and our children's children. We are standing because the Giver of life constantly makes a way to save the dying and lost. We are standing so that others may see the light of Messiah and return to the way of hope. Know why you stand. Know why you choose to stand in the face of adversity and why you continue to stand when joy seems but a distant memory.
We stand girded with truth as our belt and righteousness as our breastplate. We stand because His Word endures for ever. We stand because God has promised never to leave or forsake us. We stand because His Kingdom is an unshakeable force in the world. We stand because His kingdom is within us and His Spirit holds us up. Yes, we stand because of His promise and we know that it is enough.
Shalom,
