Making Our Beds

The saying: “you made your bed and now you have to lie in it” is true. Our actions, reactions, and interactions make up our beds. We tend to spend more time in our beds than in any other place. This is where we lie down to rest. We often think about the day and what

we did or didn’t do. We formulate what we are going to attempt on the next day. We try to relax and sleep. This is where babies are conceived, born, and nursed in the natural and spiritual. There are probably not two beds exactly alike, especially when we look at the spots, wrinkles, and blemishes. We choose the colors, linens, pillows, blankets, and spreads to suit our taste. We try to make our beds as comfortable as possible. We do well to pay even more attention to the bed of our mind, our brain, and our desires. Let’s make up our minds to learn, remember and do all that our Creator created us for. He will speak to us on our beds in visions and dreams when we settle down to listen. Sometimes He has to wait until we are semiconscious or asleep before we can hear and listen without disturbing the Speaker. We must learn and depend on Him to show us how to make up our beds so we can rest in His Peace in this life. He will strengthen us with wisdom and understanding so we end up with a bed of roses rather than one or thrones. The thrones will be there but as we follow closely to the Chief Gardener, we will not get stuck. May we serve Him with a clean heart, made-up mind, set in His Ways.

Joshua 1: 8 “Do not let this Book of the Torah depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night so that you guard to do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and act wisely.

Psalms 4: 4 Tremble, and do not sin. Speak within your heart on your bed and be still. Selah.

5Offer slaughterings of righteousness, And trust in יהוה.

Psalms 16: 7 I bless יהוה who has given me counsel; My kidneys also instruct me in the nights.

8 I have set יהוה always before me; Because He is at my right hand I am not shaken.

9 Therefore my heart was glad, and my esteem rejoices; My flesh also dwells in safety.

Psalms 36: 4 He plots wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not despise evil.

5 O יהוה, Your kindness is in the heavens, And Your trustworthiness reaches to the clouds.

Psalms 63: 6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.

7 For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings, I sing.

Psalms 119: 147 I rise before dawn, and cry for help; I have waited for Your word.

148 My eyes have gone before the night watches, To study Your word.

149 Hear my voice according to Your kindness; O יהוה, revive me according to Your right-ruling.

Daniel 1: 17 As for these four young men, Elohim gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom. And Dani’ĕl had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Job 4: 13 Amid thoughts from visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men,

14 fear came upon me and trembling, causing my bones to shake greatly.

Micah 2: 1 Woe to those plotting wickedness, and working out evil upon their beds! In the light of the morning, they practice it, because it is in the might of their hand.

Joel 2: 28 “And after this, it shall be that I pour out My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men dream dreams, your young men see visions.

Matthews 11: 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your beings.

30 “For My yoke is gentle and My burden is light.”

Acts 2: 16 “But this is what was spoken by the prophet Yo’ĕl:

17 ‘And it shall be in the last days, says Elohim, that I shall pour out of My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams,

Philippians 4: 7 And the peace of Elohim, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds through Messiah יהושע.

8 For the rest, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is righteous, whatever is clean, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, if there is any uprightness and if there is any praise – think on these.
